How to find the stats for Google Adsense mobile anchor overlay and vignette adverts – if you use Google Adsense and use their adverts on your website, you might have been notified about a new type of mobile advert Adsense are now running.
Their new mobile adverts are called Anchor/Overlay and Vignette and can now be accessed by most account holders.
I’m not sure why these companies use such obscure words to describe new products!
Summary of Contents:
What Are Anchor/Overlay and Vignette Adverts?
Anchor/Overlay I can understand them using these names okay, as these adverts appear at the bottom of the mobile phone screen and stick there until you either click on them or dismiss them, even if you scroll down the page.
So, what is a Vignette? Time for a definition:
- a brief evocative description, account, or episode.“a classic vignette of embassy life”
- a small illustration or portrait photograph which fades into its background without a definite border.
Ah! I think it’s the second definition and the Vignette adverts appear when you click on certain links on your page, which opens up the full screen advert.
You can then either click on the advert to go to the offer or close the advert and be taken to the original link you clicked on.
So, what about having a look at the stats for these mobile Adsense adverts?
To be honest, it is not that obvious from the UI.
So, Where Are The Stats?
When you log into your Adsense account, normally you would click on “Home” to get an overall view of what has been happening Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 28 Days, etc.
However, you cannot see the stats for the Anchor/Overlay and Vignette adverts here.
Your next port of call would probably be “Performance Reports” and with that click, you will definitely be getting warmer.
I have this page set to “Today’s Ads/Ad Units”, but here again, you will not be able to view the stats for Anchor/Overlay and Vignette adverts.
Where Next to View Anchor/Overlay and Vignette Stats?
When you are in the section “Performance Reports” you are only 2 clicks away from viewing your Anchor/Overlay and Vignette advert stats.
Just first click on “Advanced Reports” halfway down the left-hand side and then click on “Ad Behaviour” near to the bottom of this sub-section.
On “Overview” tab you will see your Anchor/Overlay and Vignette advert stats.
Slightly obscure place to put them, but once you know where to find them, it’s no effort at all to reach them.
Do Anchor/Overlay and Vignette Adverts Work?
The jury is still out on that! I have put them live on one of my mobile phone websites and just giving it a while to see what materialises.
I understand that the revenue might be a bit less RPM, but the other way to look at it is, it could be extra revenue you would never have received had you not had them active in the first place!
